Synopsis

IIn the 1950s, a group of young doctors, imprisoned on Green Island for holding views that differed from the ruling regime, established a medical clinic while in captivity. With a full roster of specialties and outstanding talent, it was arguably the most advanced medical institution in Asia at the time. These so-called "newborns" were not only doctors—they were farmers, artists, teachers, students… people from all walks of life. Some were jailed for their ideals; others were implicated by association. Their only common ground was the need to survive in a harsh, isolated environment.

Though their bodies and fates were confined by the Kuroshio Current surrounding the island, they brought transformation to this barren land—not just in medicine, but also in agriculture, education, and science. Under the Stars, on the Black Current Island takes you back to Green Island, to witness how this group of people endured, resisted, and ultimately lived.
