Synopsis
Anesthesiologist Dr. Hsiao Cheng-Hsun, injured in an explosion while serving as a field doctor in Jordan, returns to Taiwan.
Shortly after, he encounters a metro bombing and collaborates with a young surgeon "Bear Cub" to save victims, with the rescue filmed by journalist Shen Jou-Yi.
After delivering the victims, Hsiao reunites with his former lover, Yang Wei-Yu, and is invited to lead the Trauma Unit at Kanglian Hospital.
As vice president, Yang faces pressure from legislator Wan Da-Qi to adjust the hospital's budget. Shen investigates the metro bombing and the earlier "human ball" case, uncovering links to the corrupt pharmaceutical company behind the drug Delicon AM2.
The bombing was orchestrated by a protest group against the drug's side effects. As the truth comes to light, Wan Da-Qi’s role in pushing the drug is revealed, exposing government corruption. Dr. Hsiao eventually succumbs to complications from his injuries in Jordan.
