Synopsis
Anesthesiologist Dr. Hsiao Cheng-Hsun was responsible for administering anesthesia during a kidney stone surgery demonstration led by Hospital Director Chen Hsien-Jung. The patient, however, developed a rare complication of malignant hyperthermia and, despite emergency efforts, tragically passed away. During the post-surgery review meeting, all blame pointed to Hsiao, who had been suffering from chronic insomnia. The hospital suspended him pending investigation.
Insurance agent Yeh Chien-Te, who handled the surgery’s malpractice claims, suspected the cause of death was not straightforward and convinced Hsiao to team up for a covert investigation to uncover the actual cause.
The surgery also led Hsiao to reconnect with his middle school classmate, Sung Shao-Ying, stirring up childhood trauma. Seeking help, Hsiao turned to psychologist Yang Wei-Yu, who used hypnotherapy to help him confront his inner shadows.
